MHS Academic Team Enters the Homestretch of Their Season
By: Dale Schenewerk

The MHS Academic Team enters the homestretch of the season coming off the heels of another tournament win. The Bulldogs have won five tournaments this season but the most important tournaments lie ahead.
After winning the NCMC Conference tournament for the first time in school history, the JV team won the MACA JV State Tournament at Hallsville.
As they head into the 7th annual Bulldog Regional Interscholastic Challenge, the program features unprecedented depth.  The A team (Varsity) is led by seniors Jamison Jeffries (captain) and Declan Gleeson, junior Christian Frederickson and sophomore Camden Williams.
The JV team that won the JV State Tournament was led by Sophomores Dylan Reid, Carter Blackburn and Lucy Gleeson.  In addition to those players, several freshmen have made great strides this season, including Meredith Harter, Alexia Femrite, Jude Yancey, Zellen Duncan, AJ Leon and Brandon Ballard.
Following the home tournament, Mexico will host the Class 5 District 4 tournament.  What happens there will guide the rest of the season, but the Bulldogs are optimistic that a path exists to their first State Tournament in school history.
People wishing to come support the Mexico HS Academic Team and their successes this season can come to the Trivia Night Fundraiser at the MHS Sports Complex Lobby the evening of April 22nd.  More information will be released at a later date.
Congratulations to the MHS Academic on their successes this season, and Good Luck with the rest of your season!
