The smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest impact. As a school administrator in the Mexico Public School system, I see many positive things happening on a daily basis. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I would like to list some of the outstanding and positive things that happen in our school. There is so much to be thankful for.

Our teachers continually show the highest respect for all stakeholders. They are very responsible and highly ethical. They are devoted to the educational profession and work tirelessly to make a difference. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to work with each and every one of them.

In addition to our teachers, we have had other acts of kindness shown at MELC. First of all, I will name some of the blessings we have received this school year. We received school supplies from Bright Futures. We received brand new water bottles for all students from the Methodist Church. We received hand sanitizer for all classrooms from a generous parent. One of the foster grandparents who visits at our school made homemade bears for all students in a pre-k classroom. The Housing Authority donated school supplies and mats for students to sit on. And, the Chamber of Commerce stopped in to give all pre-k students a new coloring book and pencil. Lastly, the Nutrition Spot has donated nutritious teas for our teachers.

There are so many things in addition to the extrinsic items. We have therapy dogs, Sammy and Sparkle, that come to visit our school with Brenda Hickman and Janice Kleinsorge. We have the Little Dixie Fire Department that spends an entire day with us to promote Fire Safety Week. We have an amazing PTO that provides food for our staff during parent-teacher conferences, as well as all kinds of prizes and educational tools for our school. We have Mexico A+ students who donate their service to our school and the MO Retired Teachers Association provides an abundance of support to our school.

Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a domino effect. Spreading kindness is easy. During this Thanksgiving season, take time to be thankful for all you have and focus on spreading kindness wherever you go!
