Bulldog famlies celebrate reading at Title I Night

September 29, 2025 – Just before Friday Night Lights, our Title I teachers hosted a fun Bulldog Literacy Night at Hawthorne Heights! Bulldog families stopped by to play games, grab snacks, pick out a free book to take home, and enjoy free admission to the Friday night football game.
The night was inspired by Title I Reading, a federal program that helps schools give every child the same opportunity to succeed, no matter their family’s income. Schools qualify for Title I based on the percentage of students who receive free or reduced-price lunch. Because our school qualifies for schoolwide Title I status, the extra resources we receive benefit all students — not just a few.
Those resources allow us to provide extra reading and math support, offer small-group learning, buy books and materials, and host events like this that bring families and schools together.
Bulldog Literacy Night is all about making reading fun and encouraging families to enjoy it together. Thank you to our Title I teachers for planning such a meaningful evening — and to our Bulldog families for coming out! Be sure to check our Facebook page for photos from this special night.
