Future Bulldogs prepare for school

May 20, 2026 – At McMillan Early Learning Center, future Bulldogs are already getting ready for school.
Over the course of three days, staff at McMillan welcomed approximately 130 incoming students and their families for screenings ahead of the upcoming school year.
The screenings help staff learn more about each child’s early learning and developmental skills while also giving families a chance to become familiar with the school environment and meet members of the McMillan team.
During the screening process, students participated in a variety of age-appropriate activities designed to assess early academic and developmental readiness. Staff worked with students on identifying letters, numbers, shapes, and colors, while also observing motor skills through activities such as hopping and cutting.
The screenings were made possible through a team effort involving preschool teachers, office secretaries, and administrators, all working together to help create a welcoming and positive experience for students and families.
“These screenings are an important first step in helping us get to know our students before the school year begins,” Dr. Anne Billington, Principal, shared. “It also gives families an opportunity to begin building connections with our school community.”
McMillan Early Learning Center serves the district’s youngest learners by focusing on early childhood development, school readiness, and building strong foundations for future success.
