Mexico High School Freshmen Explore Manufacturing Careers

October 8, 2026 – Mexico High School’s entire freshman class stepped inside local manufacturing facilities for Manufacturing Day, getting a firsthand look at the technology, skills and people behind products made in our community.
The experience brought 133 students to seven locations in 12 small groups. Students watched manufacturing processes in action, explored career options and learned about educational pathways through Moberly Area Community College.
Manufacturing Day highlights careers in modern manufacturing and helps students connect what they learn in school with opportunities in the workforce. These visits offered freshmen a chance to see those possibilities close to home.
Logan Ray with the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed students this morning. On the high school campus, freshmen also explored careers that match their skills and interests through Missouri Connections, helped prepare local donations for the Tyronn Lue Day of Service, and participated in a National Guard activity.
Thank you to the businesses and educational partners who shared their time and expertise:

- True Manufacturing
We’re also grateful to Rebecca Moppin and the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce for coordinating the experience, along with the staff and volunteers who made it possible.
By the Numbers
Moving an entire grade through a day of career exploration takes teamwork: 19 group leaders, six buses, seven locations, and 14 location leaders. Most importantly: 450 cookies baked in Advanced Foods! Add two volunteer grill cooks and one College & Career Coordinator managing the logistics, and you have a community effort that opens doors for our students!
