HCC Student Spotlight: Ty Evans, Van Far High School Senior, Diesel Technology

Ty Evans worked on the job as the student spotlight.

Nominated by Mr. Witherspoon, Diesel Technology Instructor

Ty Evans is a well minded, very attentive young man. He is using the opportunities provided by Hart Career Center to advance his education in diesel technology at WyoTech in Laramie, Wyoming. He is currently working for Mid-Missouri Truck as part of the On The Job Training program.
 

Career in Focus: Teaching Professions

If you’re wanting to be an educator or teacher post high school, Hart Career Center offers an amazing class that will certainly prepare you for that role you will be stepping into later down the road. This program offers four dual credit courses over the two years through MACC. By the end of completing the program, you can become a certified paraprofessional, which can launch your teaching career. Within the two years, students observe a variety of grade levels and are placed in a classroom for field work experience. These field work hours can also be used for the A+ scholarship program requirements. Addison David, a Senior at Mexico High School says that “the Teaching Professions program provides students with hands-on experience and teaches students different teaching methods and/or strategies in order to benefit the classroom.” Brandon Ballard is a Senior at Mexico High school, Ballard says that “the course teaches students how to manage a classroom, which gives us an idea of how we want to manage our classrooms in the future.” Makayla Burnett is a Junior at Mexico High School, she loves how this program prepares students for the future and gives them a foundation for their teaching professions. So, if you’re looking to be in education, why wouldn’t you take advantage of this opportunity? Learn the basics of teaching, expand your knowledge of working with children, and build groundwork for the near future. This program will give students a foundation for college and beyond. So, if you’re thinking about going into education and looking for a fun and beneficial class, then the Teaching Professions Program at Hart Career Center is the perfect program for you!

Mrs. Eva Eikel builds the new Teaching Professions program for HCC to empower future educators

Mrs. Eikel brings 20 years of teaching experience to our program, combining a rich background in both the arts and academics. She received her Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from the University of Central Missouri and a Master of Arts in Classroom Teaching from Missouri Baptist University. Her experience includes 13 years in K–12 Vocal Music, 9 years in Business Education, and 5 years in Computer Science. She is also certified in Family and Consumer Sciences, making her a well-rounded and dynamic educator. With her deep experience in both specials and regular education classrooms, Mrs. Eikel is excited to inspire future educators through the Teaching Professions Program. Her passion for learning and preparing students for life beyond high school shines in everything she does.
